Thailand: The second-largest economy in the ASEAN region, with a population of 69 million and located at the heart of Southeast Asia, is considered by many as an entry point to the ASEAN market. Thanks to the country’s business‑friendly policies, technological advancement, well‑connected infrastructure, and cultural diversity and its strategic geographic location, Thailand stands to be one of the most lucrative regions for the glass and façade sector. Thailand also benefits from the Sino-US trade tensions with several Chinese-based firms relocating part of their supply chain to Thailand.
Thailand's economy grew at its fastest pace in recent years, as reflected by the construction market size which was worth at US$26.2 billion in its latest report last year. The market is projected to achieve an AAGR of more than 3% during 2023-2026. The major ongoing infrastructure projects in Thailand for 2022 is also valued at over USD 45 billion.
Furthermore, Thailand is planning to build a smart city in Chonburi province, about 160km southeast of Bangkok, with approval from the government and a support of US$37 billion for this project spread out over 10 years. As Thailand continues to open as regional hub for international suppliers, Glasstech Asia and Fenestration Asia will be a regional ‘melting-pot’ and a vital route back for businesses into the Asian market.
